A message from the “Port au Port East Town Council”:

The Town of Port au Port East would like to extend a warm welcome to all residents, newcomers, and visitors to our website. This Town has a proud history dating back to the late 1800’s. This civic pride can still be seen in its residents today.

Port au Port East is located west of Stephenville, Newfoundland at the base of the awe inspiring “Port au Port Penninsula”. It offers ocean views, streams, brooks, valleys, and mountain ranges for your pleasure. Originally it was known as “Berry Head” after a local landmark which was covered with many different kinds of berries.

Currently, Port au Port East is a community offering a host of services for its residents. Education, recreation, and fire protection are of the highest standard in Port au Port East. In addition, our churches, parish center, seniors club, and Town Office are always active to help and eagar for new volunteers. We also maintain, to a very high standard, a first rate baseball field (home of the Vikings) and walking track. For our younger residents and visitors we have our newly renovated playground in the heart of town.

Port au Port East is blessed with an awesome climate that is suitable for growing most products 155 days a year. We have hiking, cycling, ski-dooing, off-road trails, and skiing areas literally starting in our backyards. Minutes away are an international airport, new hospital, stadium, swimming pool, and seniors homes with more being built all the time. In less than an hour we have the best ski resort in Eastern Canada, “Marble Mountain Ski Resort”.

Local to our area we also have arts and culture opportunities through the “Arts and Culture Center” and the “College of the North Atlantic”. Very few places in the world can offer what we have. We are truly blessed and, if you continue to check the web site, you will begin to see why.
